Meet The Board
Co-President
Debra Hoffman
Hello!
My name is Debbie Hoffman and I am a long-time volunteer at Mother’s Cupboard. I am very passionate about their mission to ensure that no one goes hungry. This organization is near-and-dear to my heart as it was a God-send while my father battled cancer. Because my parents spent a great deal of time at the hospital for his treatments, it left little time to cook for themselves. Mother’s Cupboard ensured that they always had a hot meal. After their deaths, I wanted to give back to the community that had given them so much. Helping others in their times of need was important to me, so I began volunteering to help the cooks, serve meals, and work in the pantry.
I also work as a 6th grade ELA teacher at Brown County Middle School right here in beautiful Brown County, Indiana. Many of my colleagues have joined the volunteer team at MC and found serving our community in this capacity is very rewarding! Each year, I continue to spread the word about what we offer at Mother’s Cupboard- recruiting volunteers, helping with school fundraisers, seeking donations for the MCCK Soup Bowl & Silent Auction, and participating in a variety of activities in the community where Mother’s Cupboard is involved.
Aside from teaching and volunteering, I have many interests. I love to garden, read mystery/crime novels, spend time with my grandsons, and travel. Being outdoors and taking photographs of nature are also activities I enjoy.

In 1991 we retired to Nashville where I have stayed busy with farming in Newton and Jasper counties, fly fishing throughout the world, furniture building and gardening with a special interest in rose culture.

Joey Denison
Joey Denison is a graduate of Brown County High School & a current student of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology where he's studying Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Language and Literature.
Joey had worked at Mother's Cupboard since 2017, where he started as a server. He then progressed to cooking, under the guidance of Chef Sherry, whom he credits most of his cooking abilities to.
At her recommendation, he joined the board of directors in 2021; hoping to add a new perspective to the board & gain a new perspective himself.
In his free time he enjoys cooking for his family and friends, taking on any construction project he can get his hands on, and rollerblading while he's still got good knees.

Sandy Richardson
I have lived in Brown County for 25 years now. A native of Cincinnati, we moved to Brown County when my youngest child Grace was born. I also have a son Christopher, daughter in law Nicole, step daughter Stephanie and her husband Matt, grandgirls Audrey, Chelsea and Hannah. My 90 year old mom Carol is here in BC as well, and still going strong at Van Buren Elementary as a foster grandparent.
It was about 2008 when Jan Drum at St David's asked if Gracie and I would like to help her cook. I said, sure! Gracie and I never stopped. We loved it and as a mom I was so happy that not just Gracie, but my other family members all have a heart for service here at MC, or in other areas. I must have done something right!
I became a board member in 2015 thanks to our long time former board member and still very active volunteer, Paul Colvin.
In 2016 I became Board President and I am still at it. We've seen good times, hard times and sad times. However, I am so happy to say that once again, we have rallied after the loss of Chef Sherry, and we are right back at it with a great staff. It's pretty safe to say I am extremely dedicated to not only the board, but most importantly our clients and our volunteers.
No one should ever be hungry...
